In this success story, we are going to share Larry Ellison life story of co-founder and also former CEO of the Oracle Corporation. And Larry Ellison is one of the richest people in the world with the net worth of $55 billion as of March 2017 according to the Forbes World’s Billionaires list.

He was born on August 17, 1944, in New York City. By that time, his mother, Florence Spellman, an unwed immigrant from Odessa, was only 19, and she was not complete to raise a child. As a result, a nine-month-old Larry was sent to his uncle and aunt. Larry has never seen his father, a United States Army Air Corps pilot, in moreover, he did not know about the adoption up to his adolescence.

Ellison has donated up to 1% of his wealth to donations and has signed The Giving Pledge. In accumulation to his work at Oracle, Ellison has had success in yachting, through Oracle Team USA. He is a licensed aircraft pilot who is the owner of two military jets. Ellison is a non-executive director of Tesla.

Larry Ellison started his elementary school education at Eugene Field Elementary School in Chicago. After that, he joined the Sullivan High School in 1959. He was very intelligent but he never takes a concentration in subjects which were skilled at school. Later than completing his high school education, He joined the University of Illinois, but he did not present his final year exam because of the sudden death of his adoptive mother. After the summer holiday, He attended the University of Chicago, Where he showed his interest in computer design subject.

Career:

In 1966 the age of 22, Ellison moved to Northern California. In 1970, Ellison was started work in Ampex Corporation, at their he has an opportunity to work on a project for a CIA and creating a database of their project. At there, Ellison was inspired by the document written by Edgar F.Codd on a relational database system. In 1977, He and his two partners started a company and name it Software Development Laboratories with investments of $2000. In 1979, they are changed the company’s name Relational Software Inc. they started working on similar & creative databases. At last, in 1982, they give the company name officially “Oracle Systems Corporation” later than their main product “Oracle Database”. Larry required Oracle to achieve compatibility with the IBM system or database, but unfortunately, IBM refused to share the system’s or’s code with Oracle. In early days, Oracle released Oracle 2 version, but there was no Oracle 1. In 1990, 10% of staff had removed as a circumlocutory result of false sales strategy. Ellison sees the opportunity to dominate the market in the mid-range system and microcomputers group When IBM delayed its way into the relational database market. Ellison pushed for an aggressive sales strategy; as a result, Oracle is at present one of the top companies in the world.  In 1997, Ellison was complete a director of Apple Computers. In 2009, He made around $52 million. Ellison is the fifth richest person in the world and a third richest person in the U.S with the net worth $55.2 billion.

In 1997, He was made the director of Apple Computers, But he was resigned in September 2002 citing lack of quality time for board meetings.
Ellison is a licensed pilot. He owned some aircraft and military jets including SIAI-Marchetti S.211 and Mikoyan Mig-29.
He is bought “Indian Wells Tennis Garden” in 2009.
He made a little role in the movie Iron Man 2, in 2010.
On September 14, 2014, Larry resigns from the CEO of the Oracle And become an executive Chairman of the STO.

Controversy:

Ellison was essential of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and said that “Snowden had until now to identify a single person who had been ‘incorrectly injured’ by the NSA’s data collection.” He has donated to both Democratic and Republican politicians and in late 2014 hosted Republican Senator Rand Paul at a charity performance at his home.
